Jr. Naval Architect from System One
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Naval Architect. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant experience in the naval architecture field, with a strong understanding of ship design, stability analysis, and structural integrity. As a Junior Naval Architect, you will work alongside senior engineers and assist in the design, analysis, and development of marine vessels and offshore structures.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the design and development of ship structures, hull forms, and marine vessels in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Conduct stability analysis, including intact stability, damage stability, and load line calculations, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Perform structural analysis of ship components, including strength and fatigue calculations, to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Support the creation of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Assist in the preparation of 3D models and simulations using relevant software tools (AutoCAD & Rhino or similar).
• Review and ensure the accuracy of design documentation, calculations, and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and designers, to ensure project milestones are met.
• Participate in the development of design proposals and bids, providing technical input and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Stay current on the latest developments in naval architecture, marine engineering technologies, and industry regulations.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in naval architecture or marine engineering.
• Strong knowledge of ship design principles, stability calculations, and structural analysis.
• Proficiency in design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, GHS or similiar).
• Familiarity with marine classification societies and industry regulations (e.g., ABS, CFR, DNV, LR).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines in a client-driven environment.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed for inspections, tests, and project-related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
• Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and construction methods.
• Prior experience with both commercial vessels, pleasure craft and yachts are a plus.
• Experience with FRP design and construction
